How to find the GoDaddy FTP login information

In this article, I will show you where to find FTP login information for GoDaddy’s hosting and how to connect to your hosting through an FTP client.

Table of contents:

What is an FTP protocol?

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. You can transfer files directly to the directory on your web hosting through an FTP client without using an online file manager. Through an FTP client, you have access to a directory and you can export or import files as you like. It is a very useful tool.

If you want to know more about FTP protocol, read this article here.

What you will need to have:

Finding the FTP login information for GoDaddy’s web hosting

Go to your GoDaddy account page.

Web hosting section in my product page

1. Once you login and get to the My Products page, locate the Web Hosting section. Click on the Manage button to the right of the hosting option you want to use.

Detail information about your domain

You are now on the Dashboard page, which contains all the information you will need to connect to the FTP client.

2. Your cPanel login information will actually be your FTP login credentials as well (I tried to add a new FTP account in the cPanel page but I could never successfully connect through the FTP account. This was the only way I was able to make it work).

You cannot change your username, but your password can be changed here.

3. Switch to the Server tab and copy the IP address information.

Now, when we have all the FTP information, you can paste them to your FTP client. In this case, I am using the FileZilla client (it is a free FTP client for Windows).

How to connect through FTP with Filezilla client

Host – paste the IP address or your primary domain (We will be using your domain without “www.” as host. If you have a problem with connecting to your domain host, use the IP address instead).

Username – paste the cPanel username (see step 2).

Password – cPanel Password (see step 2).

Port – leave it blank.

Hit Quickconnect and you should see all the files from your web hosting in the FTP client.
